Steve Johnson
President of Cabot Components Corporation and Chairman of the Board

Steve Johnson President of Cabot Components CorporationIn 1972, Mr. Johnson enlisted in the United States Air Force.  After finishing his undergraduate work at Southern Illinois University in 1978, he attended Officer Training School and continued to serve his country until retirement in 1993 having obtained the rank of Major.  During his military career he garnered experience in purchasing, research and development, manufacturing and construction management.  The conclusion of his military career saw him involved in construction projects in locations spanning the Pacific rim from Hawaii to Japan to Alaska.

In 1993, Mr. Johnson took a sales position with Heritage Building Systems and ultimately became the purchasing manager for that company.  In 2000, recognizing an opportunity in the developing Internet marketplace, two principles of Heritage Building Systems along with Mr. Johnson and an information technology specialist formed the first true e-commerce steel building company.  Work on the concept that would become Steelbuilding.com, began as early as 1997 with portions of it being built on work initiated by Johnson.  Without doubt, the defining characteristic of Steelbuilding.com was that you could actually design, price and buy a pre-engineered metal building online.  It was the first of its kind and was recognized in industry publications like Metal Construction News published by industry leading Modern Trade Communications and Metal Building Today, a publication of the Associated Builders and Contractors.

Steve Johnson founded Cabot Components Corporation in 2007.  It is a natural continuation of his work in the prior two decades and the company will take advantage of his experience in both "brick and mortar" and pre-engineered steel building systems.
